"Sorry this video cannot be played"

[Android Question]

Whenever I attempt to open a video on snapchat and occasionally youtube I get the message "Sorry this video cannot be played". The occasional video will work but 99% of the time it will not. If I send a video to myself it will work which makes me think it is something to do with the file formats. I have a Moto Defy with OS 2.2 installed. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to android forums. I believe you are on target with the format of the movie being the issue. The stock player that comes with the phone doesn't support very many formats. I suggest downloading a different player. Personally I'm a big fan of MX player. I have yet to run into a format that it couldn't play.

This is the OP, thanks for the reply. I have installed MX player but am unable to set it as my default player. I go to settings>applications>manage applications>video player (the one that came pre installed), however I cannot click "clear defaults" as it says no defaults set. I have also tried an application that does it but had no luck.

Okay so I figured out how to set MX to default however I still get the same message. I have also reinstalled snapchat twice and it has also been updated twice.
