Root Sound issues after root

I just re-rooted my phone (after a recent brick- send to Sammy to fix ) issue, but have NOT flashed a rom yet. and now I have a weird sound issue. The files are there and play fine. The volume is turned all the way up, but I get no alarm, calendar, or SMS notify sounds.

Phone ring works as does the download notify sounds, but not the others.
Is this a common problem? Is there a fix? I read in the sIII forum that a factory reset might fix this, but I'd rather not do that......

Have you tried using your own audio file for the sounds?
Maybe the stock sound files are corrupt.

That's what I was trying to do.... (use my own ringtones, but that didn't work either.)

I did a factory re-set on the phone, (for other reasons) and it's working now.
I think I will re-root it again soon. THANKS!
