Help Spam/pop ups

Hey guys, I just got an S6 Edge + a short while ago, this is my first android so I'm still figuring out all of the bells and whistles. I'm having an issue with a mix of spam and pop up's, If I open Chrome, and type in google.com or what have you, and click go, about 90% of the time it starts re-routing me to spam pages, "you've won XYZ" and the phone will start making all sorts of noises and vibrating etc. I have Avast as well as Malwarebytes on here but despite running those multiple times and clearing out any of the programs that those flag I'm still having issues. So I'm wondering if there's anything you guys could recommend to fix said issue? Like I said I'm totally new to Androids, I've been an IPhone user since 2007 so I'm still learning the ropes. Any input or advice you guys have would be greatly appreciated!

OP, it doesn't sound like you bought this device at a Store. Did you buy this used?
One thing I was you to try is. Turn Airplane Mode ON + Connect to Wi-Fi and browse Chrome again.
If no pop up occurs it means you have an application that is trolling you hard.

Nope I bought it brand new from the ATT store, I'll try your suggestion when I get home, as for an application causing this, I went through my application manager and didn't see anything suspicious, but I'll give that a second look to make absolutely sure.
