Spam???

I recently bought a GNex and I am getting random shortcuts placed on the home screen and in the pulldown menu. Anyone else getting these? Is there a way to stop or block them?

Sorry of this has already been discussed but I didn't know what else to call them and a search for spam didn't come up with anything similar.

Not sure what might be causing this, but I would do a factory reset, and then re-install your apps one at a time until you figure out which app (if any) introduced them into your phone to start with.

I got another one and captured a screenshot before I cleared it.

I have started uninstalling apps beginning with the most recently installed.
A lot of these apps are the same ones that I had on the LGOV.

Get AirPush Detector and AddOns Detector, you installed an app that uses AirPush advertising, which was created by Hitler himself. That wouldn't have anything to do with the shortcuts, but I'm guessing that the app that is using AirPush to give you status bar ads is the same app adding shortcuts to your homescreens. Anyways, run those detector apps, and then delete the offending app.

I installed AddOn Detector and discovered it was a LiveWallpaper that was doing it. Uninstalled the wallpaper yesterday and no strange ads since.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Make sure you leave feedback in the market about the Airpush ads in the app. That crap needs to be flushed...
