Spammed by CNN Newsroom?

Dropped the notifications list, saw a notification about a coming current event (Obama's address re/ISIS).

WTF?? So I clicked it and wound up listening to a Geico ad preparitory to a CNN Newsroom vid.

Any thoughts on what I need to turn off or uninstall?

I got spammed when I first got the app Zedge. I didn't know it was even possible. I just found this

Just remembered what somebody told me a year-or-so ago: long-press the notification to see the name of the app that posted same. Did it, uninstalled the offender...

TuneIn Radio.

But it's a freebie and they have to make money somehow... so I'm not exactly wildly indignant....

And you can turn off the notifications, but they are on by default.

I stopped using TuneIn some time ago, I got more and more irritated with every update. Took me ages to find the "off switch" for the notifications; I had resorted to turning them off at system level which stopped it showing anything.

At least it's harmless.

Are you sure that is the actual name of the app?

there is no "CNN Newsroom" app.

That was the destination of the spam/link.

App turned out tb TuneIn Radio.
