Speaker on by default?

My phone always defaults to speaker on when I make phonecalls or answers, have to disable it manually everytime. My friend have a similar phone and doesn not experience this problem. Have I changed some setting without noticing, and if so how do I change it back?

Hey guys, I'm having the same issue. I'm the proud new owner of a Desire, but I can't figure out how the heck to get it to default to the phone?!
