Help Speakers crackle but using headphones is fine?!

So like other people, the speakers are crapping out on my n7. They crackle even at low volumes. Factory resetting it didn't work.

But when I put in my headphones, the sound is perfect.

I don't know much about electronics so maybe someone may know why this is?
I have a guess that internally, the speakers that are crapping out and whatever transmits sound into the headphone jack are 2 different hardware that don't affect each other?

I would be very choked if even the headphones start giving crackly sound in the future.

Sounds like you have blown speakers. Try contacting Asus about a warranty repair. EDIT: or should you contact Google for a warranty repair? I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

My first N7 had speakers which got worse over time. What might help is next time, break them in gradually. Don't play any sounds at Max volume. Keep the slider at half or less than half for the first few days of use, them slowly allow yourself to increase the volume over time. Then avoid using Max volume as much as possible. My replacement's speakers after 3 weeks are holding up well so far, knock on wood.

BTW crackling speakers are a physical issue with the speakers, it has nothing to do with the headphone jack.
