Speaktoit Assistant won't read my texts (GO Sms)

I downloaded Speaktoit mainly for the purpose of having it read my texts to me and allowing me to respond all by voice. When I tell it to read my texts, it confirms that it will, but it doesn't do it. I use GO SMS...does it only work with the native messaging app? Is there something in the GO SMS settings I need to change to make it work? :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
