Help Spectrum won't turn on or charge...help!

I am surprised no one made any comments about this...

I knew we already knew this, but it is the first time anyone has mentioned that Verizon referred a user to here...

This really doesn't surprise me. We are the cause of and solution to most of the problems that have arisen since the phones release. Also a lot of the repair/restore guides we've written are probably better then what they have in their tech manual.

Great....just waiting on mine to do this. But....I have run into some similar problems with black screens and craziness and it seems to me that what I have run into is removing the battery and allowing it to cool for a time, then replacing the battery have fixed most of the squirrelly junk.

Bought two different versions of that game and could never really get into it. Was weird as I like that game play style

Mine won't power or do anything when I plug it in to charge.

The official charger or a generic charger? The official charger and cable put out enough power to turn the phone on as long as it detects a battery being connected. If it still won't turn on, my quest is did you do something to the OS recently that could have caused a boot issue?

Yes, I got a messed up recovery put on it for CWM, and stuck in a bootloop. After a while of messing with it, trying to do downloader mode, nothing could fix it, till I guess the bat died. I have original charger, but nothing charges it even with others. 100% dead. Nothing happens when I hit the power button.

Ick, sounds like you are s.o.l. for normal solutions then. For $6 you can try this. I use to have one for my OG droid, but it seems as thou LG has not made an official one for the Spectrum.

Amazon.com: Hyperion Universal Rapid Battery Charger for LG Lucid 4G, Lg Spectrum 4g, LG Viper 4G, LG G4X HD, and LG Optimus 3D Max: Cell Phones & Accessories

Edit: I'm not sure if you tried this or not, but you still may be able to access charge only mode if you follow the steps in this post from up above.

let the phone on charge for about ten minutes with the lights flashing. after that remove the battery and charging cord, then plug in charger without the battery then place battery in the phone then press the power button

i ran into a bootloop after screwing up something in cm9..... same issues as everyone else had in this thread... ^^ this method worked... just had to hold vol- and power at the same time to boot into recovery.....and also ive always noticed recovery charges your battery faster than trying to boot it up

Hello -- I have a spectrum in this same state. I have a feeling it has to do with my daughter letting it drain too low, as she has a habit of letting it die. It won't turn on, and I get the blinking lights for a few seconds after I plug it into the charger and then push the power button.

I've tried to get to the charge only mode talked about here, but I don't see anything that makes me think its charging. I have the battery out and cord disconnected. I then plug in the cord and then pop the battery in. Should I see something here? I do not.

Thanks

Plug it in and leave it for an hour. Then try to turn it on.

Make sure you're running on a 1+amp plug. A PC port does not put out 1amp, nor do most cheap AC to USB adapters. Our phone doesn't take the full 1amp, but it needs as much ompfh it can take. Also, have it on as short of a USB cable as possible. Those 6+ft cables will kill your power through put. If it's working, you should see the phone boot up into a battery charging icon on the screen.
