Anyone know of a better Maps application than the built in maps?

I just got back from a road trip and taking another one later next week and with Pandora and Maps running the S5 was crawling... it lagged horribly and when I tried to zoom out to get a overview of the map route it took forever and was stuttering like a windows 95 computer...

I use an older version of maps, v.6.14.3... I find v.7 and up to be less driver friendly.
I use maps and Pandora together all the time for hours and have no issues. ..
to get an older version than what came on the phone you will need root...

You've probably got in a couple map updates. in order to get back to the original maps that originally came preinstalled on your phone, you need to go into "app data" then find "maps" then "uninstall updates"...
and I would suggest going into the Play Store search maps and removing auto update... It could be one of the versions they updated to is not running as good...

just a suggestion, I hope it helps

good luck

Try an off-line map app call "maps. Me". The GPS is not as accurate as the google, but the maps load fast and you can download map for almost any country.

JNo, there is a map app in the play store, call "maps.me" , it cost $1.99. Once you purchase the app, you can download the current maps of any country you want. The app stores the maps offline so it doesn't need to stream the data constantly like Google map; hence, it loads much faster than Google map, and you don't have to wait to receive the next section of the map. It just rolls along smoothly with your current GPS position. Also, I was wrong about the GPS in my previous post, it is just as good as Google , if not a bit faster since you don't have to use the data streaming.
