Speeding Up Stock Browser

I couldn't find the main browser thread so I made a new one :(

I found that if you disable plugins on the stock browser it is way faster.

Huge difference between speeds w/plugins enabled vs. disabled

(Flash is a plugin, so assume disabling plugins disables flash)

Give it a try, let me know.

Is there anything wrong with trying different browsers? Boat browser seems to be slightly faster than the stock. ICS browser plus is exactly the same as the stock but slightly better (user agent mode). And there is of course Google Chrome beta which is as fast as a desktop, you just have to sacrifice flash.

From personal experience, there is more wrong with not trying different browsers. You will not know what you are missing if you don't test similar apps to see what works best for you.

I gave it a try & noticed no difference. However if you uncheck JavaScript it load web pages in the blink of an eye.I did this with plug-ins set to "always on".

Thanks for the tip, While I noticed a big difference between plugins on and off, turning of java script helped also.

With both turned off, my browser now blazes!

Thanks again!

EDIT: Scratch that, disabling javascript makes everything look ret*rded. Websites fail like no other, and google search itself looks horrible. Don't recommend disabling javascript, just plugins.

Yes disabling plugins hugely improves speed. 2 questions: Should I turn it off or on demand. What do I lose without it?

So far, I have noticed no losses with plugins off.

I would assume on demand would give you acess to the plugins (flash) per site, when a site requests flash, it may let you view it. But on non-flash sites, it will run with plugins off (I assume)

I currently have it set to off, and every one in a while I will come across a flash video that I will need to change to on demand to view.

Might switch to on-demand eventually.

I notice about the same speed with on demand and off. But with plugins on, my browser is slow.

Try the ICS Browser+.......it's free in the Play Store.

UI is the same as the stock browser, but it is faster, does flash videos, and uses the same bookmarks from your stock browser.

So far I'm liking it very much. It could become my default browser.
