Hi
I have an Adapter who allow me to charge the Phone while an SSD is connect to. I want use Software to record a Video to that SSD. I dont know what speed the SSD support on the Phone. So maybe I can shoot a 4K Video.
Thanks
There's several storage media benchmarking tools out there, e.g. CrystalDiskMark
Brand-name SSDs are usually pretty fast, and certainly more than enough bandwidth for 4k video I think.
The speed of the SSD will be limited by the USB port on the phone. You haven't said what device you have and the type of port, if it's an older phone with micro USB it won't be that fast. USB-C should be better but may or may not support 4K recording. And all this assumes the phone supports OTG to use the drive in the first place.
When you're going to be recording 4K video, use your phone's internal storage. The USB interface as is will really limit your bandwidth speed, adding in an adapter device will only increase the loss.
If enough free space on your phone's internal storage is going to be a problem, use a microSD card instead. Just be sure it's a newer card that is the appropriate speed class. 4K recording will require some decent write speed to save to the storage media effectively. It's not so much how fast your SSD is, the limitation is in how it's connected to your phone:
