Spider-Man 'reboot' movie

There's been: Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man 3. Now That Andrew Garfield is the new Spider-Man/Peter Parker, and with Marc Webb to Direct. (Sam Raimi who did 1, 2 and 3 is out). What would you like to call The New Spider-Man movie? That

Personally, I don't think the reboot should even be made. I love Spiderman as much as the next guy, but all they do is reboot movies these days. There's already talk of a Fantastic 4 reboot and I believe I heard that Marvel got the rights to the Punisher back so we could even see another one of those somewhere down the line.

IMHO a reboot is something you do for a beloved franchise that has fallen on hard time (Largely do to bad movies), whose last movie was done a fairly longtime ago. Wasn't the last Spidey movie like yesterday?

This reboot runs the very real risk of being called a sequel and leaving people wondering what happened to toby mcguire.

Bad idea if you ask me.

You want to reboot something, go reboot police academy.

Not interested. Marc Webb did the quite wonderful 500 Days of Summer which was a great little not-so-rom-com, but I really don't think Spiderman needs rebooting. Spiderman 3 was a bit of a duffer but 1 & 2 are still relatively fresh and I'd quite happily sit and watch them again....

As has been said, reboot older franchises for newer audiences, not films that aren't even 10 years old (Spiderman will be 10 years old by the time this reboot is released in 2012)

Pointless, just an excuse to make more money IMO....

Oh, Andrew Garfield, not the choice I would have gone for.

Sadly, I found all of the Spiderman films made somewhat disappointing. I also thought Tobe Maguire was not the right choice.

I can see your point of view on this. The entire concept of rebooting
Spider Man seems to stem from the Ultimates comics. In Ultimate Spider
Man, Peter Parker is only a teen as opposed to a college student.

The writers are hoping (I assume) to use a younger main character to
reach less of the adult and fan boy market and target the teens and
their disposable income.

It's all about the $$$ I'm afraid.

Erm.. what do you lot mean by reboot of a movie?

A reboot is like a 'Do Over' in child's game of baseball. The past does
not count against the current movie and the writers can disregard any
previous history with the character.

Some reboots don't tamper with the history at all, but rather take
advantage of new CGI and tech to update the storyline in a modern
way.

However I think the writers of Ultimate Spiderman are like kids running
with scissors. Nothing good can come of this. :/

I agree with several previous posters about rebooting a movie and franchise that is less than 10 years and was extremely successful commercially. Sam Raimi is a great director and Tobey Maguire a very good actor but there are things that can be improved.

For one thing, the dialogue in all three movies, especially the first, is below George Lucas level, and that's saying something. Two, Kirsten Dunst was horribly miscast as Mary Jane and they told several key elements of the original comic book out of order.

I have my doubts as to how this will do as they rebooted Superman and we all remember how that turned out (poorly). Lately movies have been disappointing lately with so many reboots and remakes of foreign versions that don't usually translate well.

I'll pass on this.

Spider women would be my choice, a fit bird in tight lycra swinging from lamp posts is an awesome idea....Friday night in most places I guess.
