Sprint Being Bought

I would imagine it will be no big deal (though it's a big deal to the corporate mucky-mucks). I think dish may bring some more innovative services but Softbank may bankroll the network upgrades even more than what's been going forward (one can hope).

As if Dish wasn't bad enough.. two terrible companies together would be simply mortifying. :(

They could destroy sprint and just use it for television instead of for cell phones. :p maybe they want the bandwidth/spectrum and not interested in cell phones.

Would the FCC allow Verizon to buy Sprint? Or would that make them too large?

I don't believe so. Verizon is already the largest US cell phone provider. With Sprint, Verizon would have over 50% of current cell phone users -- especially considering the MVNOs that Sprint owns.

Oh god if Verizon took over Sprint. VM would no longer have the $35/month deal. The prepaid would be expensive

Also I don't see how Dish buying Sprint would be a good thing.

Exactly. One reduces competition and the other dismantles the company and uses it for satellite television spectrum.

Dish has been wanting to get into the mobile business. It wouldn't be used for satellite

They already own mobile spectrum, they just need the towers

Softbank is a Japanese owned company? If they buy Sprint does that mean more phones will see a US release?
