Ok iv been haveing very bad battery drain for the past day or two. I just recently installed the Blazer ROM 1.9. The first day was great almost 20 hours on battery without charging. Today my phone went down to 40% in the matter of 3 hours...most of which was just sitting screen off in my pocket. I read something about the sgiff_daemon draining battery so i showed CPU usage and that is the first on that list for my phone. I havent een able to see anything about fixing what is causing this so if anyone can help give some insite on this problem id greatly appreciate it!

Are you referring to gsiff_daemon and not sgiff_daemon? If it's the former, according to several posts in the Blazer, the Sprint leak, and FreeGS3 threads, if you rename the file then it won't show up and drain your battery. This happened to me and I put .bak (gsiff_daemon.bak) on the end and it stopped. I'm not running that ROM right now so I didn't have to change anything on this new one.

People report no ill effects from renaming the file.

OK awesome so where do I locate this file?

Tried changing the file name to sgiff_daemon.bak and got an "operation failed" error. My phone is brand new, haven't rooted it. Do I have to be rooted to be able to change the file name?

Yes because it's a system file. Only if you have root access can you alter system files.
