Root [Sprint/Cricket] Can Root Sprint S3 phone be used with Canadian providers?

Merudo

I have a rooted Galaxy S3 from Sprint and I wonder if i I can use it in Canada.

I know the phone lacks a SIM card - but is there any way I can use the phone with Canadian providers?

After all, there are CDMA/LTE networks in Canada....

CDMA phones can only be used with the carrier that has the phone's IMEI in its database. Since you're evidently trying to use it with a carrier other than Sprint, the carrier won't have the IMEI of a Sprint phone in its database, It's the same as trying to use a Sprint phone on Verizon. Technically the phone would work. But the carrier won't activate it. (They can't if they don't have the IMEI in their database, since that's what they use to tell the computer to activate that phone on your account.) And the only IMEIs in their databases are the ones of phones they've bought. (Which is why people illegally clone phones to change carriers.)

BTW, as of about the end of 2016, all Canadian CDMA operations will be shut down. Bell mobility is the last one, ceasing CDMA operations on 1/1/17.
