Root [Sprint/Cricket] Charging & update problem

I noticed yesterday my S3 wasn't charging. I brought it home and cleaned the contacts a little & I changed the battery, with no luck. I noticed I wasn't able to update my PRL or Samsung files. apparently something is wrong. I'm running 4.2 with stock rom rooted with Oden 3.04.

An update; I checked the phone again and the battery did finally charge up. However I had to turn the phone off to get it to do so. I still can't update the PRL, Profile, or Samsung files. Is it because I'm running 4.2?

I was going to wait to update to 4.4 I just haven't seen a stock or daily driver 4.4 the phone yet.
