Root [Sprint/Cricket] Need help rooting on linux

I have been banging my head against the wall trying to root my Sprint SGS3 for a couple days. Im using the heimdall 'method'. I cant get the "protocol to initialize" I get libusb -3 error no matter what I try. Was pretty much trying to follow the below listed guide.
