It seems that there are no issues rooting JB 4.1.1 using qbking77 method here.
However, using his xda download link below the video, on the TeamEpic page for the 3rd download...
...it says in BOLD red:
Digging around, according to this xda thread,
I have the latest radio, which is 4 updates after the LF9 radio they warn not to use with this method.
1. I REALLY want to keep all my APP DATA, so this is not exactly confidence inspiring. Can anyone with LJ7 or a similarly brand new s3 (I purchased mine just this month) let me if they've followed this video method and had no issues with the root AND keeping existing App data? Advice appreciated, even if you don't have this LJ7 radio.
2. I would like to be able to return this to stock, unrooted, with binary counter reset as well as any other indications that I messed with this phone, in case I need to bring it to Sprint to fix under warranty. It seems some people with newer radios are hesitant to either root or try the binary counter reset for fear of Sprint being able to tell and not honoring their warranty. Since my phone (January 2013) is much newer than when these videos were made/tested (June 2012), does anyone know if there are any potential issues returning to stock?
3. I've been having some driver issues with my Samsung USB driver, possibly also having to do with Windows Update, which failed several times to install the update. Not exactly sure, wasn't paying full attention, but I first started getting TWO autoplay popups (within a few seconds of each other) on my PC when plugging in my S3. (Click show for more details...)
Any issues here? Don't want this to brick my phone or cause loss of app data.
4. Samsung has an updated driver that's newer -
Samsung USB Driver V1.5.14.0...is it better to download that...not sure if (assuming properly) updated driver can cause any issues with root process, since that was tested on previous driver version?

The first would say Autoplay and have the SPH-L710, but under the device options, it would be blank. The second was normal, with the regular options to sync with WMP, open device to view files, import pictures, etc.
So I downloaded the Samsung USB drivers 1.4.6.0 from one of the links above, and deleted my device from Device Manager and installed this driver. Now when I plug in my phone, it only shows one autoplay popup. In Device Manager, it shows as working properly, but under the driver tab, it shows a driver date of 6/21/06 Microsoft (driver version 6.0.6002.18112
