Root [Sprint/Cricket] Rady for ROM. suggestions?

HI.
I have had my Galaxy S3 for around a year now, and really like it.
Details.
It is a rooted rooted, with CWM-based recovery 5.5.0.4, it is a Sprint model, white, with no external SD card, and I had it unlocked to use with my Metro PCS account.
I have a question regarding which is the best ROM to use.

1: I'd like to speed up the phone as much as possible. I am beginning to get some freeze, despite the fact that I have removed the bloatware, and other programs I don't need.

2: I am getting constant ""Message not downloaded" and my stock text messaging app, will not open or download any MMS messages. only text, which works perfectly.

I am thinking it is time to flash a ROM, and I need one that is really stripped down graphically, and not one of those roms, with skulls, or Gothic teenage models in the GUI.

any suggestions?

CyanogenMod is always a solid choice. Slimmed down and fast. You can find the stable versions like 4.3.1 or if you're more adventurous you can go for the "nightly" versions of 4.4.2 Kitkat.

I currently run 4.3.1 on mine
