Root [Sprint/Cricket] ROM that RIPS

I'm looking for something that just screams on the speed without losing to much functionality. I'm not terribly concerned with battery life. What do you guys recommend?

Pretty much yes. All of the custom ROMs are really fast. The TW based ones are stable with minimal to no bugs. The AOSP/CM based are fast but might have bugs. Check out the ROM List sticky I put together.

AOSP/CM based ROMs are faster.. because they have less overhead from OEM Launchers and features.

not sure about the bugs stuff... even OEM stock have bugs...

but how fast do you want it? this phone feel pretty zippy..
and the few times it lags.. the lag is so soo soooo small, how can it be an issue?
