Root [Sprint/Cricket] STOP annoying 9016 VVM alert texts finally solved!

I flashed LiquidSmooth a few days ago and realized that Sprints VVM was not on my phone anymore. So I got the APK and it works ok, but I am getting those annoying text msgs from 9016 and I want them to stop. I prefer the VVM apk, I like the interface.

I have read hundreds of solutions and spent hours trying different things and none seem to be universally proven to be effective. I do not want to install a third party msg app, I do not want to use redlist. There has to be a solution somewhere.

I have read that some mgs apps will completely block the vvm msg from being dl'd and you will never get the msg as sprint vvm will only work if the sms text comes thru, and I read other posts that say redlist will work.

HOWEVER......almost all posts are for other devices, mainly HTC devices.

Who has had success with GS3 on sprint?

UPDATE...SOLVED. Perhaps those more familiar with AOSP can tell me why the following worked but it has stopped the 9016 msg alerts when I get new VM.

I went into Titanium Backup (had to buy pro version..well worth it) and froze com.android.smspush and the annoying msgs stopped for good.

However I can still use the stock sms program and send and receive msgs even though I froze com.android.smspush. I am guessing the reason this works is because when detecting a VM msg it is using the push service to notify which might be why regular text msgs still work. Maybe someone can explain it better than me.

But I am stoked that this works for me. I am using stock msg app on LiquidSmooth AOSP Rom with stock kernel and no 3rd party msgs apps or redlist.

I did not have to send a msg to activate@vvm.sprintpcs.com either.
