Root [Sprint/Cricket] Wireless Hotpot

Do I need a rom that has a hacked hotspot built into it or is there an app or something I could download? I know on my last phone it normally just came with the rom but who knows, maybe there's a different way.

Mine is built into the rom I have installed. That is always a must have for me personally. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it is available as a standalone install. Search on xda.

I am stock rooted and use WiFi Tether-TrevE Mod. Works really well for the little that I use it.

Ok so an update/another question on this, is there a way I can tether my phone to my xbox? Yea I know its far from optimal for playing online but I'm pretty sure it'd be better than my -5 kb/s connection that I currently have

If it's a 360 than yeah. If it's original you'd need a cat5 cable and our phones can't connect to a Ethernet cable. I have an original Xbox and replaced a controller Jack with a USB. And I still can't connect it to internet with USB. It never had USB drivers for internet. A 360 should have USB and all the drivers needed.
