[Sprint] My situation...

Both my girlfriend and I have iPhone 4s. I just found out that if you purchase a Sprint phone in store, you cannot roll the cost onto your first bill. I have two EVO 3Ds pre-ordered for us at our local Sprint store. The $125 credit to port your number(s) ends tomorrow. Here is what I would like to do (and let me know if this will work):

Go to the Sprint store tomorrow, port our numbers for the credit, and purchase two EVO 4Gs. Then, on Friday, exchange the EVO 4Gs for our pre-ordered EVO 3Ds, and pay the $50/phone difference. I am aware we may be charged a $35/phone restocking fee, but that would still give us a $180 credit on our account at some point.

Will that jive? Or will the Sprint have an issue with exchanging the phones for pre-ordered phones?

Thanks.

You can order them online for port in credit, too, and the online deal is valid through July 23.

I'm also wondering about picking up my phone on the 24th because of this port in credit thing ending on 6/23 according to the fliers they have in the store. So, at the suggestion of some other forum go-er, I have printed out the page at sprint.com/switchtosprint . If they do not accept it, I'll be forced to order the phone online or telesales.

Make sure the store you're dealing with is a corporate store, too. You can tell by going to sprint.com and searching for your nearest store. If it says "Sprint Store" it's corporate. If it says "Sprint via So-and-So", it's a third party retailer.

But to answer your question, yes, you can buy 2 Evo 4Gs and trade them in. I talked to a rep at the corporate store about it. She wasn't thrilled about it, but said it was within the rules.

Wow, iPhone customers leaving AT&T for the 3D. I knew this launch date was to help Sprint pick up some steam since iPhone 5 or 4S isn't launching this month.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

All 5 Sprint stores in my area come up as "via something or other"... but when I called the store I pre-ordered the 3VO from, they said they ARE honoring the port credit. I just don't want any issues when I return the 4G for the 3VO on Friday.

It's a federal law (at least if memory serves) that the stores have to honor a 30 day return/exchange period. Although the store only has to honor up to 1 exchange. You might get away with multiple exchanges, but they only have to honor 1. So if you switch to the E3D from E4G, you may not be able to switch to the Nexus S or SGS2 (if the SGS2 comes out in the 30 day window).

I decided long before that I was jumping the AT&T/iPhone ship. I have been in the Bay Area for the past 10 years, where AT&T, in my experience, has the best coverage. Now that I'm back living in Illinois, the AT&T coverage is atrocious at best. The moment the 3VO was announced, I knew I would be getting it. On top of that, even with the improvements that come with iOS 5, it's still playing catch up with Android. I'm simply sick of the stale OS, and not having the features that the phone should have. Plus, no matter what I seem to do, my iPhone 4 occasionally chugs. I want more control over how my phone acts and reacts. Besides, I still have an iPad to use all of my paid iOS apps.

That's one exchange per line, yes? The phone we want is the 3VO, won't be switching after that. We're simply purchasing tomorrow to get the $250 in credit on the account.

Last I checked, the EVO 3D was a Sprint only phone. This thread is only about the EVO 3D... makes little sense to me to move the thread to a place where I'm sure has less traffic.

You are the first person to admit iOS isn't perfect. Some apps aren't perfect in the Android world which can give you lag here and there. I usually just uninstall the app and i have only seen that with 3 apps. Two of those were live wallpapers and one was a game.

I love being able to change up the live wallpapers. Like having a brand new phone. And I have an app called Screen Lock & Off. Allows you to put your phone to sleep using an onscreen button or the notification bar rather than having to hit the power button. Anyway, I noticed the app could do animation so I enabled that control within the settings. Low and behold when you hit the onscreen button the screen will do something cool like in Microsoft PowerPoint visual effects to turn the screen off. There is like 20 different animations to choose from or you can allow the phone to cycle through them on its own. Sorry to rant but its so cool to me. I don't really use the power button unless its to turn the phone on now.

Just test out the call reception when you pick up your EVO 3Ds. Don't want you to be unhappy with your first Android device. But I don't think you should have any problems though.
