Sprint Navigation vs Google Maps

Which one do you like better?

I used GM the other day and got lost...HA HA ...then tried SN to get back on track.

Any real world usage? Opinions??
 
When driving, I like to use Sprint Nav better. Otherwise, to look up a business or if Im a passenger I use Google Maps.
 
I've been a long time user of Google Maps mobile, so I'm more comfortable with it. I like being able to go back and forth between upcoming points of interest. The smooth scrolling around of it on Android now just makes it even better!

But, when I'm in a really unfamiliar area and just want to get where I'm going, I've found the Sprint Nav to work great so far.
 
I have never had any issues with Sprint Nav on other phones except for an occasional turn around when the GPS thinks I am off track. Usually happens in less signal areas. When driving it has never failed and I went across the US from KY to New Mexico with it. I would think google maps is better to run as a passenger in the vehicle or to locate something but not while driving. I may learn differently though come Friday!
 
I just like to know if you frequently use a gps for your job, delivery routes, pizza delivery, fed-ex etc, cab driver, would any of these apps take the place of a stand alone GPS device?
 
The accuracy may be the same between Sprint Nav and Garmin or Sprint may have an edge. Sprint Nav picks up or auto correct route faster if I get lost.

I use Sprint Navigation at work Daily on my HTC Hero & it works fine for everyday delivery work.

Not planning to buy a stand alone anytime soon , The Hero does great for me.

For applications where you're making frequent, short trips, Google Maps would be my first choice because of the ease with which you can enter destinations by voice instead of typing. With Sprint Navigation (that I used on a older clamshell phone) you can also enter destinations verbally, but it involves a phone call and a series of prompts, which takes much longer than it does with Google Maps.

However, if you frequently find yourself on the phone talking, then a standalone device might be better. Since my Droid is CDMA, Google Maps cannot continue updating the map while on a call, even though it will continue giving audible directions as long as you don't go off-route.
 
Having to call a number before getting directions is what keeps me using Google nav instead of Sprint nav. I have a great Garmin GPS in my car, but I actually enjoy using Google's navigation more.
 
I actually tested this the other day with a coworker. She has the Sprint Hero with Sprint Nav and I have an Eris running Google Nav. We tested going to lunch, to an office supply store and back to the office.

Search was pretty good on both.

Directions were both accurate and they each gave the same route.

I think they were both pretty good.
 
I used Sprint Navi does Google speak..

Edit: I found out my answer.. So Google Nav is like an add on to Google Maps and this ia a beta. I was confused and wasn't sure if it spoke and if people said Google Nav if tjhey just meant Google maps but I read it in another thread. Can't wait for the EVO.
 
The thing I like about google nav is on my home screen I just hit the Microphone button and say "Navigate to McDonalds" (example of course). If there are multiple locations, just choose which one and your done. If there is only 1 location (like an address that was spoken) it will just launch and start navigation (with voice turn by turn of course)...
 
On sprints don't you have to dial a number then speak or something like that. I bet i like the google one and I am guessing maybe I'll have a microphone on my home screen. I know the keyboard has one for text to speech. I can't wait for this phone. I was in 2 Sprint stores today and they were clueless about when the EVO would be out and said they hadn't trained on one yet or anything.. I was hoping to catch one on display but I know it's too soon..

I already tested the Google Nav, and I think it's a great thing. It has one thing that most if not all Navigation aid has. It has Satellite picture layer. Easy to really know where you are if you ask me. It also pinpoints a house number quite accurately. I'll try using Sprint Nav next time. :)
 
I haven't tried Sprint Nav yet since I found out you could just speak to Google. But I have a question? Can you use the Google search mic to search for other stuff besides do a Google Search? I saw under setting you coudl check mark music and people. But I don't know if it really works or what the commands are. Just like I didn't know you could say Navigate to so and so I was wondering what else you could say then I saw these settings... I tried searching for a song but it didn't work and i didn't know what command to say. Or maybe you use voice dialer I don't know.
