Sprint offers wifi calling

Official announcement for WiFi calling from Sprint. Interesting that this seems to imply you can use it while roaming, while other articles have said you can only use it within Sprints coverage areas.

For customers that travel outside of Sprint’s coverage or experience poor coverage in their homes or office, Wi-Fi Calling is a solution that addresses these issues.

I just got a Note 3 and noticed this option in the settings but its turned off. Interesting......
 
I don't know much about wifi calling. Would this still work if you were in an international market and on wifi?

Theoretically yes WiFi calling works when international, but in reality it doesn't look like Sprint will allow it in their implementation. There should be third parties around that though that are already available
 
You can make a call via Gmail with your own phone number after linked your Sprint account to Google Voice account.
 
WiFi calling from the US to overseas isn't free! Don't know why I thought it would be at all. The country you are calling has a rate per minute fee that will appear on your bill. Lesson learned on my part. Next time I'll just use an app that will cost me nothing.

Are any WiFi calling apps completely free for international calls? I believe all the ones I've seen are only free when calling in the US, or will charge for international calls unless both people are using that same app.

I used an app called Viber to talk to someone in Norway. You could text and call with the app and it was free.

Viber. I have used to call free to Australia and the UK.
 
I haven't heard anything and was wondering what the status is on the One M7 getting wifi calling. As I recall Sprint was going to bring it out to most of their phones by the end of the year and although we still have two months left things have been quiet on that front.

Unfortunately, the last I heard was that Sprint had decided not to roll-out the WiFi Calling for the M7
