There are several negative Sprint repair experiences posted, so thought I'd share a positive one.
I've dropped my evo a few times but other than some cosmetic dings on the sides I haven't seen any issues. Then out of nowhere, I woke up last week and took my phone off the charging cable and found an inch wide crack on the top left corner of the screen. The phone was literally lying on top of a pile of baby clothes -- which I only point out because they're the softest clothes ever (which I only point out for those without kids
). Anyways, I unrooted and removed some personal info, photos, etc in case it would be replaced. I prepared myself for the worst case -- waiting a couple of weeks for a refurbed replacement to be shipped.
So I took it in and was told that since 'the computer says' I had a 1st gen launch day model, I'd likely have to wait a week for a replacement screen to be shipped, but they needed me to leave the phone with them for 45mins to check. I did some grocery shopping and came back an hour later and picked up my repaired phone. ...and since the screen replacement repairs the sides as well (entire glossy black part) it fixed the dings too. I had assumed that they would pop off that part, replace just the glass, then replace my dinged up case.
Only regret is that I unrooted and removed my personal data. Live and learn.
