Sprint Pricing plans vs. VZW? worth jumping ship?

I looked into VERIZON as the coverage in my area for SPRINT was GREAT and now its getting BAD with a lot of dropped calls, low signal etc... BUT they gave me an airave for free! ... on verizon it would be about $60-80 a month to get the same plan I have for 2 phone with Unlimited data, unlimited text, 4G, Cell to cell and ANY CELL ANY TIME (call any cell phone regardless of what carrier for free) and 1500 shared minutes with nights and weekends starting at 5PM ...

I cant get that all on verizon for what I am paying c currently AND we have the evo and evo shift so that is an extra $20 a month for them and its still cheaper then verizon!

I also looked into switching to verizon because my coverage has gone down immensely since I signed up with sprint to save money about 14 months ago. Verizon would cost me about $100 more a month for what I need/want. It might be worth it if Sprint doesn't fix their coverage in my area. If I can't get phone calls, emails and texts then whats the point in having a phone. I need one that works. Sprint did until about 4 weeks ago. I am hoping they can resolve the issue quickly so I don't have to switch. I definitely don't want to.

Same here.. I called a few weeks ago and sprint told me there is a tower issue.. NOW, I called 3 days ago with same issue and now they tell me its ALL my phone and my neighbors phone too.. I have the EVO, my Wife the EVO shift and my neighbor doesnt even have a smartphone.. just a slider phone (free from sprint). All of them have the same issue at times.. I told them that but they said it HAS to be our phones. BULLsh@@ ... today its better but still not like it was.. who knows what sprint is doing...

i have heard rumors.. that sprint is not roaming on verizon anymore for data...

so my guess.. anyone that has updated their PRL ... might have slower data issues in area that sprint dont have good tower coverage.

again.. this is just a rumor..

They tried to tell me it was all of the phones on my line also. I told them it couldn't be because they are all different kinds of phones. They sent me to advanced tech support anyways. I told him my problems and he was dumbfounded as to why I was sent to him. He created a ticket for me and said the tower would be fixed yesterday..... I am still waiting.

Check the thread right here in the Sprint forum, titled something like "you have to see it to believe it". Coverage map has been cut in half, if not more.

is this correct? if so, this would account for the diminished service in my area (Southern NJ / Philly area)...

Good luck getting Sprint to fix a tower. I've been complaining about no service issues since the middle of December. Each and every time I call in about it, I'm told that there are a couple of towers in my area that are donw. They supposedly fix them, "ticket support" calls me to find out if the problem is fixed, I tell them no, they look at something in their computers, find out the towers are down and send it back to the engineers.

Last week, I got a call from "ticket support" and was told that the issue is as fixed as it is going to get and if I still dont have service, the only thing they are going to do is send me an Airave. The tech on the phone looked at the 3 towers in my area and told me that 2 of the 3 were running at less than 90%, and the 3rd was doing nothing at all, but that Sprint would not be sending anymore technicians out to look at those particular towers.

Same here.. the told me the tower 1/2 mile from my house was running less then 90%.. a month later I called back and asked if the tower was fixed because I still have the same issue.. they told me all is working fine... I told them NOPE because I still have the same issue.. they said NO OUTTAGES so take my phone to a sprint store.. again, I said 3 DIFFERENT phones have the same issue... they didnt know what to say....

Reading all the threads here, every time someone calls, they blame the nearest towers. They do not seem to want to admit to the cut in coverage all over.

It's very frustrating when an app won't work for me because I'm data roaming, and the app thinks I have no data connection. :(

What they told you guys is EXACTLY what they told me! It sounds to me like it is just a story they tell to get people off the phone and think its okay....

I was told the same thing when we had to dial the same number a few times to call someone or when someone would call us our phones wouldn't ring.

Sprint told us that they knew of the issue and they where looking into letting people out of their contract about it. They lady told me that if they did Sprint was going to make a huge deal about it, commercials and everything (BS!) It seems to be working fine for now.
