Sprint Reception Question

I'm on Tmo, and I might be moving to Sprint soon. I heard that Sprint has been having reception issues around the nation. I want to know if there is any data issues going on in Houston?

Thanks.

P.S. That might not stop me from going anyways. :P

I have noticed some data speed issues over the last few months with Sprint, but overall coverage has been good. Many have attributed this to the network upgrades Sprint currently has underway. Its a 10 billion dollar upgrade that should enhance data speeds, voice, capacity, and coverage... it also brings 4G LTE. (Google: "Sprint Network Vision"). I lived in Texas for just over a year and traveled all over the state on a daily basis because my job (flight instructor) required it.... While I was in TX, I had no issues with Sprint's coverage. Also, My bro recently switched from T-Mo to Sprint, and has has been happy.

True. I used to live in so-cal and service was epic, way better 3g speeds than verizon, but I recently moved back with my family in stockton, and guess what, horrible horrible service. Even though there is suppose to great 3g service here but no there is not, I get data speeds of 5kb at my house. It is plain horrible, customer service will waste an hour to get you to do things, and than all they want you to acknowledge is if that speeds improved a little so they are able to say that they resolved my problem. It is kinda pathetic that not every tech support rep is there to solve your problem but they are just there to get you to admit that the phone feels a little faster. SO it all depends on where you are, I am sure you will get good service in houston as in Sacramento I get decnt 3g speeds when I go there.

I'm in Los Angeles and get terrible 3G and 4G speeds. But Sprint is the only unlimited data carrier at this point and I tether while at work so I'm stuck.

You must be in an over crowded area or there is some other problem. I have never seen that slow of speeds on my data card or smartphones, every speed test I have run is always around 600kb down even on roam I get 116kb to 179kb down. Twice I was lucky enough to get 4g with 2085kb down and 5540kb down. Just ran a test 660kb down 525kb up 162 ping. My only complaint is too many roam areas if you travel off the main roads. Once years ago I remember having bad service south of Tucson while visiting that area, strong signal but always busy signal, had to redial like 50 times to get a call to to through. Last time I was out there it was fine, but did have problems at the Phoenix Nascar race in 2009 worked good untill race day then no data would move, I left on monday still no data untill I drove 10 miles then it worked again.

Probably, I guess everyone here has sprint, or may be they just haven't upgraded their towers in ages. It is a town of about 500k people. I hate the speeds. I am so close to just getting reliable service and move over to another provider. I use between 2-3gb a month and I happy to pay extram 15 bucks a month on my bill, I am still waiting it out but I am on the edge here. I work in sacramento, ca and I used to get around a 1mb over there but guess what? after the iphone got released I cant even hit half a meg.

In the last few weeks I have actually noticed improvement in 3G service. I thought it might worsen since the release of the iPhone but it is still very good. Also what is weird is that I've been getting 4G in places where I previously didn't. Like at home inside my house. Until about a month ago I could get a weak signal if I sat outside. Now I have a consistent 4G signal indoors too. I live about 10 miles outside of Nashville, TN.

here in Dallas ft worth texas area....
over the last few months.. the speeds have been getting worse and worse.

over the last few weeks.. 3G has dropped to below 100k

over the last few days.. 3G it is below 50k.. and i see 1x too often on my phone. before I would only see 1x once in a blue moon for a few secs... now, it is about half the time (while i am out of the wifi areas).

4G has never been useable for me inside any of the work or home areas I am in.

where the F is the vision upgrades going to kick in????
