[Sprint] Still Within 30 Day Return Window-Sprint Bill-Keep EVO?

Any post CES envy for EVO owners?

e.g:
Motorola Atrix 4G - Android Forums
LG Optimus Black - Android Forums
HTC Thunderbolt - Android Forums

I'm still within my 30 day return window (today is day 25) but unless I see concrete release dates for aforementioned devices (list is not comprehensive BTW) I'll likely keep the EVO.

I have to deal with my first Sprint bill today though which of course they screwed me on (activation fee was not waived as promised & discount not applied..) & not sure why Sprint Surcharges+Gov Taxes&Fees (additional $15.39/mo?) is so much more than my iPhone?...

Advice?:)

if you need explanation on your taxes then phone up sprint and they will gladly tell you.

you didnt get your discounts and activation fee waived? again ask sprint. no on here can speculate on why that occurred.

as for what shall you do? thats totally up to you and your lifestyle. if you dont really want the current model phone you have AND your not pleased with the service thus far, well, return the phone and walk away. plain and simple. go back to ATT and wait out the release date for the mentioned devices you are waiting for.

also, and im sure you have thought about this as well, go to the respective forums for those devices and grab more info on them and/or read up on the blog posts of those devices. decide if they meet your needs more so than the current model device you at this time... compare notes... simple...

I will call Sprint but was curious if everyone on Everything Data 450 pays Sprint over $15/mo in Sprint Surcharges ($7.39)+($8) in Gov Taxes & Fees (I knew about the base $69.99+$10 Premium Data before any discount)?

Sprint service has been fine, haven't tested 4G enough because of battery concerns but I'm in Wi-Fi hotspots 90% of the time so carrier service generally seems expensive for my use. I'd be happier if Sprint did no contracts like all other major carriers..:D

Still a huge fan of the kickstand as simple a feature as it is. I was hoping Skype video calling would be available already like iPhone as we use it nearly everyday. Definitely like it more than iPhone 3GS..

Surcharges are based on where you live... that being said, my Sprint bill, including all taxes on the Everything Data 450 plan with an EVO 4G (after my company's discount, Im a Home Depot employee) is only $68. :)

In regards to your activation fee, call Sprint, (if you're nice) they'll probably reimburse it on your next bill. Keep in mind that these sort of things, and applying your company discount may take a billing cycle or two to show up. Can honestly say I've never been "screwed" by Sprint. Also, I've never been charged an upgrade fee or activation fee in 10 years with Sprint. :)

I'm looking at AT&T's iPhone bill vs Sprint's EVO bill serving the same area & Sprint charges double in surcharges+GovTaxes&Fees..

(This is Sprint's first bill-$140-SinglePlanED450 but only seems to include 2 extra days+typical month-I'll look into this today)

Appreciate the feedback,

you might have a chance.. if you paid full price for the EVO.

Sprint Relay Store offers that Sprint PDA Data Only Plan for EVO at the discounted $199.99 price.*

I got it at BestBuy where they have no restocking fee for $150 but hopefully Sprint won't require me to return this one there & order again from the site because BestBuy's returns cost them $..

I guess I'll find out when I call later..

*Site does say:
"Reminder - These phones and the *$29.99 data-only plan is only for Sprint Relay consumers. *4G phones require an additional $10 monthly premium plan.
Sprint EVO

Sprint rep told me their PDA Data Only Plan for EVO is exclusively for the hearing impaired..seemed to be some debate online about that but he claimed certainty.

I guess I have a few more days to decide what I want to do but Sprint did assure me I could wait another week (until after my decision) to pay the first bill without it being considered late.

Rep did however credit me $50 (activation fee+nonspecific credits but shows up in my online bill as 3 prorated "Valued Customer Upgrade" credits) but even after a couple transfers they could not apply the linked EPRP: russ.s.mcguire@sprintcom ; CID: 383) $59.99 + $10 Premium data to existing EVO, was told I would have to return it to BestBuy since I'm still within 30 days & apply EPRP in an online order at: Sprint | Everything Plus(SM) Referral Program..seems doable but overly bureaucratic..

I did test out VOIP today with instructions at VOIP for Android Devices via SIPdroid Android News, Android Phones, Android Tips, Google News, Tech News and More Thedroidguy.com mentioned at http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/238725-voip-sip-evo.html#post2066145 & it does work well over speakerphone (not well without speakerphone) but don't like that pbxes.org has my gmail credentials so used a trial account. I wish Skype (VOIP that works well whether it's on speakerphone or not) would not only offer video calls like they have with iOS since 12/30 but also no Android Wi-Fi restriction. Isn't there an app that makes the phone think 3G is Wi-Fi so these apps would work outside Wi-Fi (for the 10% of the time I'm not in Wi-Fi)?

Still not sure I want to pay $85-$95/mo though when I'm in Wi-Fi 90% of the time..

Really?!?!?!?! Some debate?!?!?!? Honest?!?!?!

Oh god, mods please remove my posting ability today, because I am going to get myself in trouble!!!

From the link you provided, first paragraph, I did the bold.

The Sprint Relay Store sells iconic and award winning devices and relay services including the best wireless value in the industry for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
Data Only Plan - Sprint Relay Store

If you are going to do this, they require you to do a video chat with them to prove you are hard of hearing or deaf. In the case of my sister she had to produce medical papers proving she was completely deaf, she as the implants.

Then I set up and resubscribe every year, I get told the same thing, over and over. There will be surcharges and extra fees added to the account, for the first bill. It can take up to 3 billing cycles for discounts to appear, and it up to 2 billing cycles for any waived fees to be credited back to the account. If you are not credited back the total money before 4 cycles are up, contact CS.

I have never had a problem with getting my discounts or refund for fees. Just have to give them 3 or 4 billing cycles to get it straighten out.

I certainly did not intend to insult you or anyone else so if that occurred I do apologize but Sprint should not simply call it "Sprint PDA Data Only Plan" such as the aforementioned link Sprint Relay Store & Sprint , perhaps calling it "Sprint PDA Data Only Plan for hearing impaired" would end all confusion.
