Help Spyware

Lurker
I have a great assumption that my phone has spyware, but having difficulty locating it so I can remove it. My Gmail was hacked several months ago and I discovered my email address was attached to someone's Google Cloud. It showed my boyfriend's email address as the owner and mine listed under parental control. He denies allegations. He knows information about me from my text, email, calls, and messages that I have not shared with him. I downloaded a couple different apps to show me information about apps installed on my phone, but I don't know what to look for. I understand spy apps can be disguised, but not sure as to what. My battery drains quickly, my phone powers off an on by itself, it even makes weird notification sounds even though I turned all notifications off. Please help.

My phone has never been hacked that I know of, but this is what I would do if it happened to me...
  1. First remove the gmail account and any other accounts that may have been compromised on the phone.
  2. Then reset the passwords for those accounts.
  3. Finally do a factory reset on the phone which will remove the spyware app/s and then add my accounts back.
Now if your phone was rooted then step #3 may not work since with root, spyware can install to the system which is not wiped with a factory reset.

I have an additional question. My WiFi has been having several issues. I see that my TV and my phone have the same IP address. Is that normal and is it related to the spyware?

I'm not a network expert, but as far as I know, no two devices on the same network should have the same ip address. The router assigns a unique ip to each device which can change depending on the order in which the devices login to the router.

Example:
If your phone and pc are on the network and the phone logged in first then ips could look as follows...
192.168.1.1 = phone
192.168.1.2 = pc
Now if the pc logs in first, then those ips would be on the opposite device.

Don't know if that's related to spyware, but you can always reset the router and change the password.

How did you determine it was your phone that was the actual source of the problem? Odds are more likely your Google account was compromised online and while it is a possibility it's not a probability it was through your phone. Your online presence exists online, your phone is just on the receiving end.

I'm dealing with the same issue. As of today, I've been trying to rid myself of this individual and situation for over 9 months. No law enforcement will take the time to help and the people I've paid to help me ripped me off. NEVER EVER SEND YOUR DEVICES TO DIGITAL FORENSICS CORPORATION. I know what you're going through and how maddening it is. Just wanted you to know you aren't crazy and you aren't alone.
