SSD but slow boot times

so i finally gave in and purchased a Samsung 830 Solid State Drive. i originally had the Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid Drive.

on my Hybrid Drive, it would take about 30 seconds from power button to Windows login screen. and now my SSD it takes about 20 seconds.

however on both, there's around 15 seconds until the Windows loading animation.

it takes about 8 seconds before my 2 monitors receive a signal. during this time they both flicker a bit. display the standard "no signal message", then blank.

then about 2 seconds later, my ASUS motherboard splash screen shows. the ASUS screen is then displayed for about 3 seconds.

give or take a few seconds, that's roughly 13 seconds right there.

i've checked my BIOS settings, but i can't find anything that would allow a faster start up time. i do have ACHI (i think is what it's called?) enabled on my SSD.

does anyone have any tips to speed things up?

MOBO: ASUS P8Z68-V LE
CPU: Intel i5 2400
RAM: 8GB Dual Channel G.SKill Ripjaws
Video: mobo onboard
LAN: mobo onboard
Audio: mobo onboard

Boot order: SSD > DVD

If I read this correctly, the majority of your boot-up time is POST, so no, there's nothing you can do. I assume you already have the Quick POST option enabled in BIOS (skips some diags).

I have the same series for hard drive, for me the only thing that takes its time is my mobos startup screen after that it takes maybe 10 seconds to get to the password screen.

And what I do now, since I power down after I am done using it for extended periods of time, is I power up the computer, then each monitor and by the time they turn on and find the signal its ready to log in.
My complaint for me is my monitors have the acer splash screen, and then after that is an energy star splash... but because of it I never have to see the start up for my computer haha.
I don't know to much about speeding up the loading windows 7 splash though. Are you using 6GB/s SataIII cable to ensure fastest speeds for the hard drive?

i didn't see anything in regard to Quick POST when i was going through the Advanced BIOS. would this be in the Boot section?

yea, i'm using a SATAIII cable. i don't mind the start up time, it's still faster than before. i usually turn my computer on while i'm doing other things. so by the time i finish anything, it's ready to login.

Probably. I can't say since I don't have that motherboard or anything close (It's probably UEFI..?)

Don't forget that drivers are being loaded when Windows boots and those take time to initialise as well, so not all of the wait is on disk access.

i checked my BIOS again. i didn't see any settings regard to 'POST' nor 'UEFI'.

oh well i guess. i still have a speedy Windows experience.
