Stacking sd cards

Is it possible? The slot's probably too small for more than one at a time. It most likely couldn't be modified either.

You may not be old enough to remember this, but way back in the analog days there were record changers where you could stack a bunch of records and it would play them one after another (just one side though). And the old jukeboxes of course which held dozens of records. More recently we had multi-CD changers but by now the CD has pretty much gone the way of the record (or maybe not since vinyl has been making a bit of a comeback).
Anyway nostalgia aside, memory cards don't work that way. It's one per slot, period. Need more bits, do as Bobby says and get a card with more storage.

Ideally I would but there's a limit to how big they can go. The S5 apparently can't handle the big new cards. There's no way I can afford a $1000 phone!

Right you're still hanging on to the old S5. It will take up to a 128GB card which should be plenty, I had a 64GB in mine and never filled it up. If you fill that up then I don't know what to tell you other than it's new phone time. You don't have to spend $1K to get a phone that takes a larger card, plenty of used devices out there for much less. Try browsing Swappa.

Doesn't Swappa use PayPal only? If they accepted cash or money orders, that'd be different. Also, I like some of the features that the S5 has but newer phones apparently don't.

You're right, it can't. The S5 can only use the older SDHC type(not SDXC), which I believe max at 32GB. Not all new phones cost $1000, and you could look at used from Swappa or something, say an S9 perhaps?

Au contraire Mr. Mike, the S5 will take SDXC cards just not the big honkin' ones. Or so they say, I never tried anything bigger than 64 in mine.
It just so happens that I replaced my S5 (which is still sitting around) with an S9 over a year ago, both bought on Swappa.

Yes they use Paypal. Hard to do cash or MO when it's through an online site plus the only way they can offer a guarantee with a refund policy. IMO Swappa is probably the safest place to buy a used phone since they verify each one (ESN check and photos with a unique ID in them). By comparison Ebay and Craigslist are a no-mans-land and you proceed at your own risk.
I do miss some of the S5 features, most notably the replaceable battery and IR blaster, but I had to accept the fact that it was getting old and slow and that it was time to move on. I've been very happy with the S9.
