Standard Email App Irritations

I'm really loving my Epic 4G Touch (coming from a BlackBerry Tour it seems like a huge step forward). I even like the standard email app that came with the phone (since I regularly check seven email accounts, only two of which are Gmail, it's the go-to app for those). However, there are two small foibles that cause me to feel some small amount of irritation with it:

• No way to "Mark all as read". You apparently have to hard press on each email, then select "Mark as read;" there's no way to do them all - or even better, a selection of emails.
• No formatting. The emails are apparently only in plain text, and there doesn't seem to be a way to put formatting of any kind.

So, I guess what I'm asking is, have I missed a way to do either/both of these with the standard email app? Or is there another email app that someone would like to recommend that does both of these things?
