Help standard keypad

sorry if this is being thick or already posted but can u get a bog standard phone kepypad for texting on the s3 like the sonys have?

No not thick, I feel thick as I don't really understand what you mean .
Do you mean not a full qwerty keyboard? I.e you are looking for the T9 style where you press the numbers to type?

so i just download an app for it rather than a standard one on the phone

I think the standard one may do it actually, open the keyboard, ie go to type something, then click on the settings button (the small cog symbol), then click on portrait keyboard types, then select 3x4 keyboard.
That works on mine
