Star Wars: The Old Republic

Everything I've heard is that BW's failure to address the server issue caused almost all of their problems. People got tired of playing on servers with a dozen people on them or less than that and quit the game entirely. I can't say I blame them.

I really want to play a Republic character, but none of them really appeal to me. I would love to play a Jedi, but I tend to suck at melee characters and I'm willing to bet there are a bajillion Jedi running around. I'll probably end up playing a smuggler or a trooper over there. I'm told the Imperial Agent story is interesting.

I usually play for 2-3 hours in the evening which is a huge time waste, but it lets me unwind after work.

I get the best populations when I play in evening (east coast though)

I see just as many troopers as jedi honestly. I dont like the melee characters in PVP though....
 
You can play as a jedi/sith and be a caster rather than meele. That's what I went with.

I loathe PVP. Every time I've tried it (in other MMOS) it feels like a gigantic CF. It's just a mess of people running around shooting/stabbing/shocking anyone who isn't them. Nothing more and nothing less. Plus, killing other players seems meaningless to me. On top of that, there's always someone there who is a hardcore PVP player and has all the PVP armor. You've got PVE armor which basically ensures that you get the crap kicked out of you every single time. Especially if they camp at the spawn site. All I ever get out of PVP is damaged armor.

Yes, but you're not a Jedi Knight then.
 
I looked it up. I am playing on Drooga's Pleasure Barge (I think). I started a trooper toon last night and find I'm enjoying playing him so far. Something about blowing up people with explosive shells is satisfying.
 
Just curious if anyone here still plays. I've more or less quit over the general direction of the game and the way BW has treated it.
 
I was kind of curious as I canceled my sub this month. I hadn't played in a few months, went back and found that nothing had changed. Same bugs that annoyed me a few months ago were still there and had apparently found some friends. Wasn't impressed with the new "expansion pack" either.

Looking for someone to talk me off the ledge more than anything. I want to like this game, but find myself drawn to DCUO instead.
