I've had my event for 4 months now I'm still very happy with it. I have to chuckle at the posts I see dissing the event for random reboots and freezeups. Holy criminey folks whaddaya expect 30-40-50-bucks?
Yes, I experience the reboots and the crashes. I'm thankful that the thing actually does reboot itself rather than having to remove the battery. I'm always pleased when after a crash or freeze the thing will still power down if I hold the power button long enough and restart it. I mean, removing the battery from my old OPV and ALL the feature phones I had before that was a ritual that I seemed to be performing several times a week. I don't miss it at all. My guess is that ICS is what gives this phone the SUPERPOWER to usually heal itself without my having to rip it open to depower it.
This is my 2nd Android and my first root. I looked into rooting my old OPV but that process was absolutely terrifying. No way I was gonna attempt it. I rooted my event using the POOT method and it was simple as pie. Got wifi tether using the Trev E mod.
I'm an over the road trucker and this little gem of a phone has become my entertainment center on the road since I found the MovieTube app, KnowledgeTube app (both in the play store) and TubeMate (google it) I can download current movies and History channel, Discovery channel shows and more from YouTube while I'm home and watch them whenever and wherever I like. I just discovered today that I can stream video from my Event to my Roku when I'm at home without a paid App.
I'm sorry but you'll take my Kyocera Event from me when you pry it from my cold dead hands!!!!!
