Still Usable?

Hello I am new here and have a question. I have done alot of searching on here and google.

Is the Droid 2/R2D2 phones still any good? Or are they too outdated to really be relevant?

The answer to your question depends on the user. What do you want to do with the phone?

I have a friend who has been using a flip phone and just upgraded to a Moto X (2014).

A lot of day to day usage, emails, facebook, web browsing, I plan on rooting it and all that jazz for funsies. Possibly will be used for security testing and such.
