Help Stock Email Client Help

Trooper

Android Expert
Hi guys. I have a client with an S5 who I am trying to help setup his exchange email remotely.

Sounds like the tech in the Sprint store really messed it up. Where do I need to go to on his device to clear the cache and data on the stock email app? I tried having him do some stuff over the phone but he could not find it. (He is not technical).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There was a thread on this recently, seems I did not bookmark it.

I disabled the OEM email client and installed MyMail which "to me" does a better job.

that way, you will have a fresh start at getting it right.

MyMail also offers support if you have any trouble making it work.

This is their "help Statement":

Your email application will automatically set up IMAP, POP and SMTP settings. As such, it supports most corporate email servers, such as Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange, provided that the administrators have IMAP and SMTP enabled.

If the app fails to connect to your mailbox, please, send details, including your email address, IMAP, SMTP and POP e-mail settings direct mail to androidmail@corp.my.com. The issue will be established and your setting will be adjusted manually.

How have you managed to disable the stock email app.

In app manager/All, when I click on Email the disable button is greyed out and can't be disabled. There is a few other apps that I want to disable but can't:mad:

I had to go look and you are quite correct. It cannot be disabled. I just don't use the icon and went with MyMail because I like it better.

You can hide the icon... I suspicion it is because the underlying OS support is tied into the kernal too tight to disable the OEM email app.
