Stock gallery downsizes photos -- not viewed at full resolution?

I have the Samsung Galaxy Q and I have noticed that high-resolution images do not show in the stock gallery -- it seems that every image is downrezzed to the dimensions of the screen -- when i zoom in on images that are 3000px wide that only display a portion of them at once at 100% on my 27 inch monitor, but when I zoom in with the android gallery, the image is pixelated, showing that it has been downsized to view in the gallery.

Is there a mod for the gallery to allow it to display full-resolution images, or a 3rd party gallery application that displays full resolution images?

I have pictures with 4K & above resolutions which zoom in fine, you may be looking at a thumbnail of the original image which hasn't been fully rendered yet.

What method do you use to open pictures and then zoom into them?
