Stock messaging app hijacking my messages, over textra.

Recently I began receiving me messages in a conversation in the android stock messaging app, despite the fact that I have Textra selected as default messaging app. I can reply in both apps, but only receive messages in the stock app, and none go to my textra app.
Any ideas on why this might suddenly be a problem? Wasn't one before.
Thanks.

Does your stock app do anything other than SMS/MMS? If it has some internet messaging capabilities (like FB Messenger) in addition to those it would explain why it could see messages Textra does not.

If Textra doesn't see them how can you reply to them using that app?

Hello, new here. Made an account just for this issue. My stock LG v30 messaging app is hijacking my SMS and MMS messages from Android messages. AM is my default app. I tried removing and reinstalling. Also tried disabling/ removing permissions from the stock app. That just resulted in nothing incoming at all.

This only started happening after the recent OS update to 8.0.

That's weird. it suddenly self corrected. Another win for team hadron! lol. Thanks!
That is weird. Just so it doesn't happen again, try going into your Settings >> Apps menu, find that default 'Messages' app, and tap on 'Disable'. You won't be able to uninstall it since it's a system-level app but at least when disabled this should prevent it from running in the background.

If you look at both apps in your Settings >> Apps menu, is the stock LG messaging app disabled so the Android Messages app is the only texting/messaging app? If nothing was incoming for the Android Messages app, look into its 'Permissions' menu and check that the options for things like Contacts, Phone, SMS, Storage, etc. were enabled.

Thanks for the quick response. The phone the dot let me disable the stock app. The disable button is greyed out. Android messages has all the permissions enabled. Currently I am able to send via Android messages and when someone replies it goes to the stock LG messaging app. No data into AM at all. I'll try an uninstall and reinstall again.

Update. Uninstall and reinstall the second time seemed to take. No hijacked messages yet. I'll post again if the problem comes back.
