I recently restored my Galaxy S (Captivate) every where I read said turn phone off then hold voume down while pressing power this should bring up a menu of options restore being one of them ....this didnt work for me, what did work was turning off then hold volume up, power and home buttons this did bring up a menu I then selected restore option and it took it back to out of box settings, back up contacts etc cos these all go doesnt effect sd card if you have added one.
