Help Stock SMS

Is there a way to make the screen where messages are read to have a dark theme (white text on black background)?
I would like to use the stock app, as it has a much smaller footprint.

On mine with 2.3.6 it id white on black.

I am on 2.3.6, but it has a black background with a blue rectangular bubble w/black text. I don't see a way to change it.

Go SMS has all the customizing you need. Good app way better than the stock messaging app. Been using it over a year and no problems.

It doesn't handle group messaging like the stock app does though, does it? The stock messaging app converts group texts to MMS so they are displayed like on iPhones.
