Help Stop apps reinstalling themselves?

When I got a nook I was happy with the B&N apps already there. Once I got Google & Google+, I started seeing daily attemts (many sucessful) to install Google versions of CNN, Twitter, and other apps. Several apps I never asked for (Crossword puzzles, wallpaper apps, others) will de-install and it looks sucessful... The next day they show up again as active apps! Why can't I avoid apps I do not want, esp. since some also are on "listen" mode, messing up my mic and A.I. app? I am drowning in extra apps. Help?

In Google Play Store settings, select "Do not auto-update apps" as shown below...

You should also check your Nook account with Barnes & Noble. B&N might have issued permission for Google to do some of the adding - especially if it makes $ for B&N.

I had a Nook e-reader and read B&N TOS. There were 4 categories of vendors that were allowed to contact you or send info to the Nook. B&N and one vendor had an opt-out. Nothing for the other two vendors so they could spam if they desired.

B&N partnered with MS until 2 years ago, now it's Samsung. According to e-reader fora, B&N is in some kind of transition that readers don't like.

Okay, I'm following. But how did I ever get apps like crossword puzzles (which I hate, and didn't come with my nook)? I've disabled strange gaming apps again &again that I never asked for...

Meanwhile, I'll see if I can find the above mentioned play-store settings...

The old Nook e-reader had chess and sudoku, and somewhere along the line crossword puzzles might have been added. I have a category marked "The Daily" with a cup of coffee - that could be anything. (This was the original Nook wifi)

Check under your B&N app or services.
