Help Stop Music from adding audiobook files?

I have a Galaxy S5.

How do I stop the stock "Music" app from adding all my audiofiles to shuffle?

The solution used to be to add a .nomedia file to the audiobook folder, but that no longer works since the last update. I can add a "." to the start of the audiobook folder name, but then it can't be read by the audiobook app.

If anyone has any alternative free music app suggestions that would not cause this problem, that would also be useful, thanks!

There are many music player apps in the play store that let you choose the folder locations for your library, and exclude other folders. I use Pulsar + but that's a paid app, there's many free ones

Not free but Poweramp has a 15 day free trial. It's very easy to use Poweramp to choose the folders you want to get your music from using Poweramp without resorting to the .nomedia trick. It's $3.99 if you want to keep using it after 15 days but if you're in China or India there's a special price for you.
