Help Stop "software update notification"

I had a galaxy 5 which updated to Lollipop and was awful. Luckily I got a new Galaxy 5 from Verizon that has not been update. But I keep getting notifications every few minutes saying "Software update ready to install" it only give the option to "install now" or "install later" I don't want either of these option....figuring I would hit install later and it would just go away it ask for a time to install as the only option....can someone tell me how to make it stop giving me the notification? I have force stopped and unchecked updates for samsung in my app manager but it is still giving me the message.

If you are not rooted you can not stop it! You can only delay it so many times (by any method), but sooner or later, it will just install on its own, and reboot...

I kicked my back from lollipop to 4.4.4 with Odin over a week ago and am still getting that nagging notification but if it does update again I'll just keep kicking it back as long as it will let me. If they would just fix what I don't like I'd leave it alone.

Ah, but you can just about delay it forever, and I have knocking on 4.4.4 wood blocks.

go into Settings/apps/app mgr/ALL and turn OFF
config.updater
Samsung.updater

Make sure that you have System Updates configured to go via WiFi only.
In my case, I am not using WiFi at all, and have not had any issues staying within my 3 gB plan.

Now, IF the update appears, which it appears it already has for you, there is a way to remove that update file.

follow this link and let the author tell you how.

For what it is worth, knock knock...... I have yet to see any requests to install Lollipop on my Verizon S5 phones and we have two of them. Both configured identically.

I must be lucky. I am on Verizon and didn't have any issues after the update. I have to wonder why some phones on Verizon had issues after the update and some like me had none. Mary
