Storage Card can't be read

I have all of my music on my storage card. Today all that music seems to be gone and I can't access the storage card. My s8 phone doesn't even recognize that a storage card is present, let alone has anything on it. From some things I've read on the internet, this is a pretty common problem. Has this happened to anybody here and if so how did you deal with it?

SD cards can be pretty fragile and should never be used as the sole storage medium for important files. They fail at the least opportune time as if they were all made by Murphy. :(

It appears that the sd-card has died. Have u tried inserting the card (using the adapter) into a computer and see it can be read. If it can I would strongly recommend copying the data off the card and onto a computer and purchase a new card.

Last year (2018) I had the same issue; my sd-card that I had for 8 years could not be read by my S8+. I removed the card and inserted it into a computer and the computer was able to read the card but it was unstable. I copied my data of the card and after doing that I destroyed the card after purchasing a new.

Unfortunately, sd-cards die when u least expect them to.

Yes, that's exactly what I would do: remove it from the phone, stick it in a card reader, attach to a computer and see whether I could read it there. There will also be a wider range of file recovery utilities on a computer if it comes to that.

I had a < 6 month old, lightly-used Samsung microSD suffer a master boot record failure a few years back. I managed to recover most of the data off it that way, but the card was junk (repaired it once, but it failed again within a few minutes in the tablet). This can happen with the things - as said above, never keep your only copy of something important on one of these things.
