Help Storage - where's it going?

Hi all,

My phone has been running slow (HTC one X - rogers - Jelly Bean), and I'm trying to free up some space. I noticed that when I go to Storage, under app storage, the majority of my memory usage is under "other".

Below is a screenshot.

Does anyone know what is classified under "other" and how I can free it up? It does not appear to be actual apps.

Sorry I can't link yet, so just add HTTP to this link to see screenshot:

Please let me know any thoughts!

THanks,
Devon

Mines like that. When you tap the other is shows lots of miles. When you try and research it in Google there is much more info on the windows and iPhone side. That makes no sense. I left mine alone.

I use an app called DiskUsage to check on my storage space when I have this issue. It allows you to look both at app storage and phone storage (as well as your root only section if you're rooted) and makes it easy to see what is using your space. Try that, and it might help you sort out what's using all the space.

Hi not sure if this will help you with your issue. I had a problem sometime ago with regards to memory. Any way this is how i resolved the issue. Not sure if it will help you but worth a go.

"Just an update to my problem. Been in contact with HTC and explained my problem, I was down to 7gb with nothing on my phone storage. Anyway basically they asked me to do a factory reset. This did not work. After a number of emails they wanted me to return the phone for repair. In a last ditched effort, and don't ask me why I did this I cleared my phone storage memory. Remember I had only 7gb out of 25gb with nothing on my phone. To my surprise I got back 15gb in a flash".

Just in case anyone else is having a similar issue.
