Storage......

Hi all, the I'm not a massive downloaded of apps etc but looking at my storage I have used up 10gb with 1.2gb left. I have quite a few music albums and maybe downloaded 15 apps. Would it be worth me getting a memory card to store all music on and leave memory for future apps as I get to know more about android and what this s3 can really do? Any recommendations for a memory card? And also can apps be saved to a memory card?
Thanks Adam

10GB ? That's the beginning of a massive download of .... SDcards like battery charging is a religious topic best left un-discussed. :-) Just get a SDcard from a reputable retailer so you can easily exchange it if it's defective and the most expensive card is not always best. I'm using a class 4 16GB card (if I were to buy a new one it would be 32GB), but many would say classes 6-10 would be best.

Apps cannot be moved to the SDcard, but most apps do use the internal SDcard for data storage and games can use huge amounts of storage. So, storing massive amounts of music on the Ext-SDcard is a good idea. Some would even go so far as to say you should store it in the "cloud". I don't do that because I don't always have a WiFi or cell connection when I want to listen to music.

Yes, get a microSD card for your music. Here's a thread on microSD cards: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/571973-microsd-suggestions.html

No, you can't move apps to the microSD (also called external) card. But if you leave big files on the microSD card, then you won't have a problem with internal space.

Your going to need root to use your external sdcard for apps.

[TOOL] DirectoryBind - move data to external_sd (GameLoft, Shadowgun etc.) ROOT req. - xda-developers

That's not really true, with the larger games at 1-2GB each in size that 12GB fills up very fast.

Cheers guys, I'm not a gamer at all, but music is pretty important to me. What's the difference with the classes of sd cards? Is there a better type/class to go for?
