Strange icon in statusbar

I've got this strange icon to the left in my statusbar. It's the letter "i" inside a circle with a line drawn across it.
Anyone knows what it is? If so, how do I get rid of it?
Tell me if you want an image of the icon, because I can't attach pictures yet.

It's the icon for disabled notifications.

Drag your finger from the top of the screen down and you should see a bunch of buttons and the notification area, tap on the big button with the "i" so it turns green, job done.

You can't turn off the emergency location service (E911). If you turn on any of the other location services, the icon gets little wifi-like bars next to it.

i dont have that icon unless an app is using location

And to answer your next question, as far as I know, it can only be removed with root access. Thanks Verizon!

Just everyone on Verizon. Other carriers didn't do that.
